Orville (Bud) Harris
Bud Harris,81, of Perry died of a heart ailment Monday, Aug. 16, at Perry Lutheran Home. He was a longtime band instructor at Adair-Casey High School.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 19, at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Perry, of which he was a member. Burial was in Milton East Cemetery in Milton, Wisconsin.
Bud was born in Milwaukee and had taught instrumental music at communities in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Iowa, including Manning, Westside and Adair. He retired in 1979 and moved to Perry. He also had owned Harris Music Co. in Carroll from 1954 to 1965.
His memberships included Otley Masonic Lodge, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Elks Lodge, Iowa State Education Association, IBA, and SWIBA.
Bud not only performed with his high school pep bands and jazz bands, but played in numerous orchestras in the area as well as his own dance band. Perhaps his last performance was last December when he came to Adair-Casey High School to play with the A-C Jazz Band in the Winter Concert.
Survivors include two sons, Joel of Carroll and Michael Sr. of Milton; a sister, Ethel Hockermann of Brookfield, WI; and a grandchild.
