Wilson Victor (Vic) Wood
Wilson Victor (Vic) Wood, 53, died November 25, 1998, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa. He was the son of Wilson T. and Jane Kaupp Wood, was born May 20, 1945.
He attended Parsons College in Fairfield, Ia., graduating in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a double major in Instrumental Music and History. Vic then taught History, English, and was the Assistant Junior High Band Director at Cardinal Junior High School in Agency, Iowa. In 1973 he and his wife, Patricia, moved to Schleswig, Iowa and Vic taught 5-12 Instrumental Music at the Schleswig-Ricketts Community Schools. From 1983 to 1995, Vic taught Instrumental Music at the Audubon High School until he was forced to retire due to failing health. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon where he enjoyed directing the choir from 1985-1995.
Vic was a member of the Iowa Bandmasters Association from 1970 to the present; a member of the National Education Association from 1970-1995; High School Music Adjudicator from 1978-1994; served on numerous Southwest Iowa Band Boards; Assistant Director of the Southwest Iowa Honor Marching Band which marched in the Cotton Bowl Parade in 1985 and was Head Director of the same band in 1987.
